NEW! Recycle Clothing and Other Textiles!

West Fairlee's Recycling Center now includes "Helpsy" bins for recycling clothing, footwear, bedding, linens, accessories (belts, bags, ties, etc.) and more! Any condition is fine, as long as they are clean (stains OK, but no grease or paint, etc.), dry, and odorless. A complete list of accepted items may be found at the link below.

* Open ONLY during regular hours 1st & 3rd Saturday 8-11 am

* Items must be in CLOSED, small bags -- think white kitchen bag-size (about 10 gal.) or smaller -- and please tie or use twisties. Regular garbage bags won't fit.

* Using drop-off bin: FIRST, place your bag on the front tray and THEN lift the handle to drop your bag into the bin.

Who is Helpsy? Helpsy is the largest textile collection company in the Northeast. They're an IRS Certified B "public benefit" company with an environmental mission. 95% of what they collect is reused, upcycled, or recycled. They sort the material and divide it into grades. Higher grades (lightly used brand names, retail overstocks & returns, etc.) are resold to on-line and other thrift stores in the US and around the world; or to "upcyclers" who remake them into new goods. Lower grades are turned into industrial rags and things like insulation and stuffing. More information at Helpsy
